Music I'm Embarrassed to Love

You know those songs that start playing on some random station and you think ahhhhhh, I haven't heard this song in years...but I love it! And you can still remember all the lyrics?

This month's song is one of those for me.

It makes me want to spark up a doobie...only, I don't smoke doobies.

It reminds me of a vacation from my childhood, driving through the corn fields of Kansas, my mom at the wheel, the windows rolled down, the wind blowing through our hair and attempting to sing harmony.

Gordon Lightfoot was actually in Philly a few months ago and I attempted to persuade The Hubs to go with me to see his show.

Me: Gordon Lightfoot is coming. Want to get tickets?

The Hubs: I don't know who that is.

Me: Yes, you do. You know...(and then I sang this song to him, murdering it along the way...)

The Hubs: I don't know who that is.

Me: DUDE, do you say anything but "I don't know who that is?"

The Hubs: I don't know who that is.

So I pulled out my phone and found the song on youtube. I played it for him...

The Hubs: Oh yeah.

Me: That's it? Oh yeah? You know you like him! Think of what a hippie fest it would be! We'd be the youngest people there. It'll be like hanging at the baby-boomer show of the year! You could wear your Birkenstocks! We could knock back a few Budweisers and smell the pot, yeehaw!

The Hubs: Ummmmm, ehhhhh, that's OK.

Me: *sigh*

And so, for your doobie-lovin, baby booming alter egos, here's this month's song I'm embarrassed to love...

Sundown by Gordon Lightfoot

Love me some Gordon Lightfoot. I am proud to have reached the age where I can state that fact with confidence and without fear of judgement. :)
